Covid Communications Protocol
Many parents have asked how communications are handled at the school and classroom level when a confirmed COVID case is reported. Here is some additional guidance on how the communications are handled. Please know that Skinner West must follow CPS guidelines for communicating COVID exposure. There are two types of communications you may receive:
1.A letter is sent via Mrs Clark from the Office of Student Health and Wellness to parents if your child has been directly exposed to a confirmed COVID case. This email is very detailed and provides specific quarantine instructions and directions for students to flip to remote instruction.
2.After the Office of Student Health and Wellness completes the contact tracing investigation of a confirmed COVID case, a general exposure letter is sent to the principal to send out to the school community. This general letter is titled "Community Letter' to inform everyone in the school community of a confirmed COVID case in the school. This community notification means your child has not been directly exposed to someone in the school that has tested positive for COVID. No action is needed and your child is expected to attend school as usual.

Community Letter
Friday, October 08, 2021
Dear SKINNER Community,
Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is committed to keeping you informed of the most current developments regarding COVID-19. A person who was in our school building on October 4-5, 2021 tested positive for COVID-19. We are sending this notification for your awareness, and you do not need to take any further action at this time. If you have been identified as a close contact, you should have received a separate notification from the Office of Student Health and Wellness with additional information.
As a reminder, we can slow the spread of COVID-19 as a CPS school community by getting vaccinated, social distancing whenever possible, wearing masks in public, washing our hands thoroughly, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
For district updates and resources, visit www.cps.edu. If you need help locating medical care or have any CPS-specific questions, please reach out to the Healthy CPS Hotline at 773-553-KIDS (5437) which is staffed 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
I am here to support you as we move forward together as one healthy, supportive, and engaged school family.
Sincerely,
Principal Clark

Early / Late Drop Off Procedure
In the event you need to drop your student off late or pick them up early please follow the following steps:
- Your child is considered tardy if they arrive after 9:10. Please call ahead to alert the office of their late arrival as well as email their teacher. Once you arrive at the school use the callbox at the main entrance to notify the office.
- If your child requires an early pickup, please call ahead to alert the office of your child’s departure time, as well as email their teacher. Once you arrive at the school use the callbox at the main entrance to notify the office. A staff member will bring the sign-out sheet outside for you to sign. You may also want to call the main office 10-15 minutes prior to your arrival so your child can be ready when you arrive.

Hello,
I am Amber Eck! This is my first year teaching at Skinner West and my 3rd year teaching 1st grade. I graduated from Roosevelt University in 2019 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education.
I am from a small town called Wauconda that is just an hour Northwest of the city. I enjoy rollerblading, yoga and reading a good book by the lakefront! My favorite food is sushi and ice cream.
I completed my student teaching here at Skinner and I am ecstatic to rejoin the Skinner community!
